GeoJSON Viewer

Open or drop a GeoJSON file and see every feature on a map with its properties, lengths and areas, then convert it to KML, GPX or CSV — without uploading it.

The file is read in your browser and never uploaded. KML and GPX files open here too.

How to view a GeoJSON file

  1. Open the file. Drop a .geojson or .json file, or choose it.
  2. Check the map. Points, lines and polygons are drawn and the view fits to them.
  3. Inspect properties. The table lists each feature's properties; click a row to highlight it.
  4. Convert. Download as KML, GPX or CSV.

When a GeoJSON viewer helps

Debugging an API response

See whether coordinates land where expected.

Checking an export

Inspect GeoJSON from QGIS, Mapshaper or a database.

Swapped coordinates

GeoJSON is longitude first — a misplaced map shows the mistake at once.

Converting for Google Earth

GeoJSON to KML.

Loading into a GPS

Lines to GPX tracks.

Quick sharing

Look at a file someone sent without installing GIS software.

How the file is read

The file is read in your browser according to RFC 7946: FeatureCollections, single Features and bare geometries, including Point, MultiPoint, LineString, MultiLineString, Polygon and MultiPolygon. Features with invalid coordinates are skipped and counted.

GeoJSON coordinates are longitude, latitude (in that order) on WGS84. Lengths are geodesics; areas are ellipsoidal.

Nothing is uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

My data appears in Antarctica or the ocean.

The coordinates are probably latitude-first. GeoJSON must be longitude first.

Does it support TopoJSON?

No, only GeoJSON.

Are coordinate systems other than WGS84 supported?

RFC 7946 requires WGS84; projected coordinates (metres) will not display correctly.

Is my file uploaded?

No.

How many features can it show?

Thousands; very large files may be slow to draw.
